My philosophy
I believe meaningful therapy involves more than techniques. It requires a real therapeutic relationship: one in which you can feel accepted, thoughtfully challenged and met as a whole person.
My work is relational and integrative. Person-centred values provide the foundation, while a relational perspective helps us notice patterns occurring between people, including what may emerge between therapist and client. With couples, I hold each person’s experience while also treating the relationship itself as central to the work.
I do not position myself as the expert on your life. I bring training, experience and honest attention; you bring knowledge of your own history, relationships and hopes. Therapy is the work we create between us.
Professional experience
For several years, the main focus of my work has been supporting couples and families across a range of professional settings and organisations. My experience at Brockenhurst College formed an important part of my professional training, helping me develop a deeper understanding of young people’s emotional worlds, relationships and developmental needs. This continues to inform my work with parents, couples and families.
I have also delivered premarital courses through churches, supporting couples as they prepare for marriage by exploring communication, expectations, commitment and the foundations of a healthy relationship. Together, these experiences have strengthened my understanding of relationship dynamics, recurring conflict, emotional disconnection and the pressures that can affect the whole family system.
Alongside my specialist relationship work, I have a particular professional interest in grief and bereavement. This includes supporting people through Butterflies Bereavement Support and working as part of the Bereavement Care team at University Hospital Southampton. This experience adds further depth and sensitivity to my work with clients facing loss, transition and significant changes in their relationships.
